I’m Jarvis Ross

A storyteller, Analyst, and now connector of people

About me

Through every interview, every sit-down, and every candid back-and-forth, I’ve gained more than just footage or content. I’ve gained perspective. Talking to professionals across tech, healthcare, sports, film, finance, and education has been a lesson in humanity. Their stories have revealed not just their challenges and wins—but have also held up a mirror for me, forcing me to confront my own assumptions, strengths, blind spots, and purpose. That’s what makes Backgrounds & Break-Ins so special: it isn’t just about their journeys—it’s about all of ours.

I'm a proud son, a brother, and a first-generation college graduate. And with every project I take on—whether it's an in-depth interview, a how-to tutorial, a tools and tech review, or a career resource video—I carry that background with me. I represent the voices that have too often gone unheard, and I build this platform with the belief that every person deserves representation, access, and truth. Especially in industries where people of color, especially Black professionals, remain severely underrepresented.

But what you’ll find here goes far beyond stats or soundbites.

This is a space where real professionals break down what their work actually looks like—without the fluff or filter. We talk about what it takes to get in, but also what it takes to stay in. We explore the weight of imposter syndrome, the pressure of being “the first” or “the only” in a room, the burnout, the pivots, and the breakthroughs. There’s no sugarcoating, but there’s plenty of encouragement. We speak openly about wins, losses, lessons learned, and the ongoing process of becoming.

My goal is to create something useful, grounded, and honest. I want this platform to help someone out there—whether you're figuring out your first steps or navigating your next leap. The content I make is for students, career switchers, underdogs, late bloomers, lifelong learners, and anyone who just wants to understand what’s really out there. I believe in giving people real tools they can use—from practical advice and expert insights to community wisdom and everyday encouragement.

And more than anything, I believe in doing right by the people I encounter. My projects are built on respect, intention, and a deep curiosity about what makes people tick. I want to shine a light on the overlooked, the underestimated, and the stories that don’t always make headlines but carry weight all the same.
